Mirava "Ava" Yuson, DVM, Msc, PhD

Mirava “Ava” Yuson, DVM, Msc, PhD is a veterinarian-turned-epidemiologist, One Health practitioner, and post-doctoral scholar. She grew up in the Philippines and practiced small animal medicine before pursuing Master’s and PhD training in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and University of Glasgow, respectively. She served as Field Team Leader and postgraduate researcher for the SPEEDIER (Surveillance integrating Phylogenetics and Epidemiology for Elimination of Disease: Evaluation of Rabies Control in the Philippines) project. For her postdoctoral work, she continues to specialize in One Health and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), focusing on local and international arboviruses. When not in the lab, she enjoys eating, reading and traveling, especially when done at the same time.
